Professional Profile    

 

Mr. Fazle Rabbi is a freelance writer, editor and organizer of non-govt. public libraries. Mr. Rabbi has an experience of 35 years working in the field of book publication, printing and promotion in Bangladesh. He spent many years promoting reading habits and non-government libraries in the different localities of Bangladesh. Also Mr. Rabbi held a few key government positions before retiring from his active career. Currently he is actively involved with many non-government organizations working for book and library development.

  • From 1979 till Retirement in 1992 Director, Bangladesh National Book Centre ( National Book Development Council).
  • From 1961 to 1979 Director, Publication, Sales & Press, Bangla Academy;

 

 Accomplishment

 

1.       1990 Acted as one of the Judges for Philips National Award for Literature.

2.       1985 – 1995 Acted as Judge in the National Television Debate Competition.

3.       1988 Co-Founder: Ahmed Memorial Public Library, one of the very few rural public libraries in Bangladesh. 

4.       1986   Course Designer : (a) Short Training Course for Publisher, (b) Short Training Course for Bookseller, (c) Short Training Course for Writers & Editors, (d) Short Training Course for Librarian, (e) Short Training Course for Book Illustrators.

5.       1986  Organised Workshop on  Training for Trainers for Book Production in collaboration with UNESCO expert Mr. Abul Hasan in Dhaka

6.       1984 Acted as course coordinator, Training on Book Marketing and Bookshop Management            organized by British Council.

7.       1983 Acted as course coordinator Second Mobile Children's Book Production Training Course         organized by ACCU Tokyo, Japan in Dhaka 

8.       1983  : organised a movement  to celebrate Bengali New Years as A Day of Presenting Books to     Dear Ones, which was officially accepted in 2003

9.       1982  Co-author of Bengali Text Book for Class V, Produced by School Text Book Board.

10.   1980  Acted editor and reviewer for Bangladesh School Text Book Board.

11.   1979 : Organized Book Lovers Associations among young people all over Bangladesh.

12.   1979  Organised the observence of 200 years of Bengali printing.

13.   1977.: Introduce Mobile Book Exhibition in cooperation with UNICEF, First of its kind in  Bangladesh

14.   1976 Course Coordinator : First Mobile Book Production Training Course organized by Asian Cultural Centre for UNESCO, Tokyo, Japan in Dhaka, Bangladesh in 1976.

15.   1963 Organized a Non-Govt. Public Library namely SUDIJAN PATHAGAR, in Narayanganj  and became the Founder Secretary. The Library is now 40 years old and one of the  most well established non-govt. public library in the country.
